OOTD | Quiver Full Apparel

I received free product from A Quiver Full Apparel in exchange for a blog post detailing my thoughts on the items. All thoughts, opinions, and ideas are my own. Thank you to Kerra, from A Qiver Full, for partnering with me. And thank you readers for supporting the brands that support this blog and my family.

Friends, I am so excited to share this week’s outfit of the day. It’s finally chilly enough here in the desert to warrant a light cardigan, ha! My work from home style is pretty casual. I need to be comfortable or what I’m wearing just gets tossed off and swapped out for sweats halfway through the day. A graphic tee and jeans are practically my uniform. With a few added accessories and flirty curled hair, I think that graphic top and jeans is anything but plain. This week, I dazzled up my uniform with a dainty necklace, earthy moccasins, and curly hair for a casual, but pulled together look for this outfit of the day.

I’m loving my latest top from A Quiver Full Apparel. Kerra, the owner, is a Jesus-loving mama who glorifies God with her talent for design and jewelry making. Not only did she send over a top for me and one for Evelyn, but she also included a quiver full necklace, a design she created exclusive for Quiver Full Apparel. My necklace was complete with an arrow for each of my five children and two feathers for children that aren’t physically with me anymore.

As a follower of Jesus, I love when I can literally wear my faith on my sleeve because it usually sparks a conversation and gives me an opportunity to share the gospel with someone who may not have heard it before. Once, my son Collin wore a, “Jesus shirt,” to school and a boy asked him about it. Collin told him about Jesus and God and even taught him how to pray right in the middle of the playground. I love that he glorified God through a conversation sparked by a shirt.

Graphic tees are my thing, especially when I get to share some Jesus love. This top was a no-brainer since it’s light and loose fitting, and declares that the Lord is my strength. I wore it with some cropped jeans and a light, duster length cardigan because when I say we’re having chilly weather I mean that it’s under 85 degrees, which is still pretty warm and requires light layers. My moccasins are one of my favorite pairs of shoes to wear in the fall. There is something about earthy accessories in autumn that seem perfect. And I finished the look with my quiver full necklace.

My work from home style may be casual, but I try to pull together the look with simple accessories that won’t get in my way and with cozy clothing that ties everything together.

Check out A Quiver Full Apparel’s faith-base clothing line that offers jewelry, children’s apparel, and women’s graphic tops. Be sure to support this mama-run business and head over to like the Quiver Full page on Facebook.

OOTD | Detroit Lions Pride

Born in Michigan > raised in Vegas > currently in the High Desert. My life has taken me across the country, but no matter where I live, Michigan has always had my heart. Whether it’s because I spent summers there as a child or because that’s where my family – my roots – are, I’ll always have Mitten State pride inscribed inside.

One way I show love for my home state is through rooting for Michigan teams. With football season here – and my Lions killing it at their first game of the season – I’m all about wearing my Lions pride whenever I can. Though the High Desert isn’t brimming with Lions gear, NFLShop.com has me covered with plenty of women’s apparel that displays my team.

When game day comes, I like to stay casual with distressed jeans, my Lions tank top from NFLShop.com, and a blue flannel cinched around my waist. No casual outfit is complete without sneakers and a ponytail. I’ve got to stay comfortable in order to have optimum jump-off-the-couch-cheering; or yelling at the referee.

The 2016 NFL Apparel collection has a wide variety of styles – from jerseys to jackets and hoodies to hats – so I can wear my passion for my team whenever, wherever. It’s all on NFLShop.com/Women. With the High Desert weather still being pretty warm, I love my Lions tank top, but for when the weather gets warmer, I also grabbed a Lions cardigan to stay cozy with my PSL, of course!

I plan to wear my Lions cardigan with a pair of leggings and a baggy black shirt and boots for the ultimate fall weather game day apparel. I basically live in leggings and boots in the fall and now that I have my favorite team on a cardigan, I have an official fall uniform, ha!

Browse apparel for your favorite team on NFLShop.com/Women and show your hometown pride in style.

OOTD | JCPenney Optical

jcp optical002

Friends, September is here and along with my birthday it brings along with it the much anticipated PSL, candy corn, and that fall sweater weather I dream about all year long. Maybe it’s basic to love fall, but I’m okay with that. I had my candy corn pumpkins stashed in my cart on August 30th and my fall booties out the next day. I’m ready for the cooler weather and the domino effect of holidays that begins with fall.

My ultimate accessory this fall is going to be my fashion eyewear frames by Traditions from JCPenney Optical. JCPenney Optical carries several brands in a variety of styles, offering something for every personality at affordable prices. Throughout Labor Day week they’ll be offering two pairs of eyeglasses for $99.99 plus free no-line bifocals. Offer through September 9th. They currently offer these wine beauties as part of the sale. I’m loving the metal deco on the temples and the rectangular shape is flattering on everyone. They’re a classic look that will last long past the fall season, but I just love how they will piece together with my fall wardrobe’s warmer hues.

jcp optical003

jcp optical004

Inspired by my new frames, I pulled out my fall wardrobe and pieced together this look that’s perfect for the desert fall weather. It’s still warm here and by warm I mean we’re consistently at or above the 100F degrees mark. My trick is to embrace fall without turning into a sweaty mess. With a loose fitting shirt dress, a light duster, booties, and my wine red reading glasses, I accomplished a look that any PSL would be proud to accessorize. Deep greens and red wine colors are my fall favorites and this outfit gives me the best of both.

Back to School Style | Mini Boden

This post was sponsored by Boden as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.

mini boden005

With three kiddos to shop for during back to school season, I try to get a head start on their clothes shopping. While current forecasts are all sunshine, I know that fall will be here before I can even blink and all three of my babes are going to need warmer (and stylish, of course!) clothing. Mini Boden’s Back to School line offers fun styles, unique prints, and no pesky tags, so they were my first stop. Mini Boden is one of my favorite places to shop for my kiddos; especially when it comes to back to school season. Their pieces are durable and made to last from morning recess all the way through the cafeteria and then back home. Pieces are also machine washable and made with soft, comfy fabrics. Plus with free shipping when I make a minimum purchase of $49, it’s a worry-free choice for back to school.

This Big Creature T-Shirt is one of my favorite pieces that I picked up for Collin. He loves sporting the treacherous snake on his chest and I love that it’s fun while also being durable enough to withstand the wear and tear he’ll put on it during the school year. I paired it with their Coloured Skinny Jeans in black and some velcro strap boots for a fun and boyish look that my tough guy loves.

For Evelyn, I picked up these Fun Leggings in the English China stencil pattern and paired it with the Pintuck Ruffle Dress in Pin Spot Denim, though I had a hard time deciding between the Pin Spot Denim or Honeycomb Cord. She wore some ankle boots with a sparkle fringe with the pieces and she couldn’t possibly have looked more ready to welcome hot cocoa and pumpkins!

3 Ways to Wear a Shirt Dress

This post may contain affiliate links.

ways to wear a shirt dress004

Last summer, I was all about the romper. I wore them everywhere and while there is still a place in my heart for the romper, this summer has quickly become the year of the shirt dress. It’s practically pajamas only more socially acceptable. And as someone who always needs to be comfortable in her clothes, I’m having some serious feels for the shirt dress. At first, I have to admit, it was hard to figure out how to style it so that it doesn’t just look like a potato sack, but with some experimenting, it’s become one of my most fashion forward pieces. Today I’m sharing three ways to wear a shirt dress that are my trusty go to styles in hopes you’ll be inspired to try this comfy chic dress.

Throw it back to the 90’s

ways to wear a shirt dress002

Grab a plaid top and cinch it around your waist 90’s-style. Add some sneakers for the ultimate casual look that’s also comfy for running errands. Bonus points for rocking some 90’s sunnies, like these full circle ones and a fabulous black velvet choker like this one.

Glam it up with a skirt

ways to wear a shirt dress003

If you’re wanting a more pulled together look for work or school, just slip a skirt on over the top of your shirt dress. Wear a pair of heels and add some beachy waves to your hair for a gorgeous glam casual ensemble. For sunnies, there’s no better choice than a pair of cat eyes with big lenses.

Get boho chic

ways to wear a shirt dress001

Grab your favorite kimono and rock some booties for a boho chic look. Accessorize with a chunky necklace and some aviators.

The shirt dress in each of these styles is by Fight Apparel. It’s roomy, comfy, and breathes well (which in the desert is important). I own several pieces from this fun faith-based shop and recommend it to everyone who compliments my outfit when I’m wearing one of their pieces. This particular piece is versatile and works with any of these looks, which is why I adore it so much!

Hopefully my little ode to the shirt dress inspires you to add one to your wardrobe this summer. But hey, if you don’t like being comfortable and looking fabulous at the same time, that’s on you (sarcasm).

Baltic Amber Jewelry, One of a Kind Pieces

Thank you to Funky Birdie Amber for partnering with me on this post by gifting me a new (gorgeous!) Baltic amber necklace in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts, opinions, and ideas are my own.

baltic amber jewelry001

Since Evelyn was just a few months old, she’s worn a Baltic Amber necklace. While most people think it’s a cute fashion statement, her necklace has always served an alternate purpose. Baltic amber is proven to have beneficial soothing and calming effects when worn directly on the skin. Most notably, it helps babies with teething pain relief. This article from Funky Birdie Amber explains in more detail about the benefits and pain relief alternative it can offer.

baltic amber jewelry004

As soon as Sister Child cut her first tooth, I purchased a necklace and secured it to her. The difference between my teething experience as a mother between her and my older son was incredible. With my son, Collin, we went through several bibs daily thanks to teething drool and the poor kiddo was always miserable. With Evelyn, we never had any drool or crankiness (other than her normal diva personality). I once took hers off and within hours she was drooling, whining, and chewing on whatever she could get her hands on. I put her amber teething necklace back on and she went back to normal in minutes.

baltic amber jewelry005

Funky Birdie Amber offers the most beautifully designed Baltic Amber jewelry for both babies and adults. Yes, amber is a great pain relief alternative for adults who experience chronic pain, too! My sweet friend, Kristina, created Evelyn’s new little beauty. I love the rainbow beads and that the length is long enough to feel loose on her, but short enough to keep her from tugging on it or chewing on it. Currently in the in-stock pieces is this lavender colored beauty that I can’t stop eyeballing.

baltic amber jewelry002

If you’re wondering what the perfect gift for a baby shower is, I couldn’t recommend a Baltic Amber necklace (or bracelet/anklet) from Funky Birdie Amber enough! This is such a great gift idea for new moms and soon-to-be moms. I would have loved for someone to share this with me before I had my son. Funky Birdie Amber hand crafts each and every individual piece, ensuring you’re getting one of a kind jewelry that meets your amber needs.

Be sure to follow Funky Birdie Amber on Facebook where they update their in-stock pieces regularly with one of a kind jewelry and offer fun ways to win your own piece of amber jewelry for yourself.

Outfit of the Day | Desert Chic

When it comes to shoes, I typically stick to sandals. But in the desert, sandals are a guaranteed way to fill your feet with pebbles and dirt or a bite from an ant or two. I’ve been trying to find some more stylish and practical ways to embrace desert chic and where I live, so when I saw these booties, I knew they had to be mine, ha!

desert chic003

Boho chic is probably one of my favorite ways to dress, but I have a hard time putting pieces together. Thankfully, I’ve been using Dia & Co and my personal stylist sends over different ways to style pieces that they send each month. I can’t even take credit for this because I pieced it together from the idea my stylist gave me last month.

These booties are quickly becoming my favorite pair of shoes because they’re versatile and a compromise for my faithful sandal-loving personality. The peep in the heel is flirty, but my foot is also completely covered and enclosed, safe from ant attacks and annoying sand filling my shoes.

Posing for these photos is always awkward, but it’s been such a great exercise for helping me learn some extra self-confidence. Learning how to pose my body, what I actually look like to other people, and how hard I am on myself has been a great learning experience. Thanks picture delay iPhone setting, for this lesson on self-love, ha!

Cabrillo National Monument

We travelled to San Diego over the weekend to visit my sister and her family. Her husband is stationed at MCRD and we take full advantage of having a free place to stay when we plan our family getaways. We originally planned on taking the kids to LEGOLAND and then their CHIMA Waterpark the following day, but the weather was much too chilly for a day at the waterpark, which left my sister and I searching the internet for some way to possibly make it up to the two disappointed boys in her living room.

Thankfully, San Diego has no shortage of places to have an adventure. We narrowed it down to three choices: the San Diego Zoo, La Jolla beach to see the seals, or Cabrillo National Monument to explore the tide pools. Collin and Aiden chose the tide pools in hopes of finding starfish. A mad dash to get five kiddos and three parents dressed and out the door before high tide then ensued.

The drive down was spectacular. The ocean waves crashed onto the rocky cliffs and in the distance we saw several large ships. The teal blues and emerald greens of the water were incredible and blended together like a watercolor painting.

The hike was long, but easy and the kids handled it well. There were several places that were safe enough for them to climb on and play around. And for the places that weren’t, we simply steered clear.

Jacob took each of the kids on a short climb to this ledge that stretched out over the tide pools. The view from there was absurdly beautiful and we wanted them each to experience it. The photos I took while he was over there with each of them are my little treasures from the day.

My sister grabbed this quick family shot of us and even though we have one pouter (the sun was in his eyyyyeeesssssss, dddaaaddddd), it’s good enough for me.

cabrillo state park10

My top is from Fight Apparel and ended up being perfect for the day. Conquering fears and exploring the cliffs and tide pools without leaning on my fear freed me to experience it all with my family. The memories made that day will be cherished forever because I was able to let go of fear and lean on faith. Not what the shirt’s actual message is intended for, but it was cathartic for me. Find the faith over fear tank here.

The tide pools below the cliffs didn’t disappoint. Though we didn’t find the starfish my boys had hoped for, we did discover crabs, sea slugs, and anemone.

I did not expect to have as much fun as I did at Cabrillo National Monument. I’m an indoors gal and hiking has always sounded like an activity I preferred to skip. But after my experience there, I’m kind of hoping to find more places to explore and hike through. Who even am I anymore?

Styling my Yellow Pumps, Pinterest Style Inspiration

This post may contain affiliate links.

yellow pumps4

Pinterest is such a fantastic resource for style inspiration. I have a hard time piecing together outfits and what looks good together, which is why I love all the ideas I can find and save on my Pinterest account. When I recreate an outfit I find on Pinterest, there’s usually a method to my madness. I’m not just copying for the sake of copying. In fact, I’ll search an item that’s already in my closet. Ripped skinny jeans, pink floral kimono, moccasins. And I piece together my look based on what I can find in my search results.

Recently, I bought a lovely pair of yellow pumps (similar pair) to wear at my daughter’s Minnie Mouse birthday party. I paired them with a classic red polka dot skirt and black top. They worked perfectly for the event, but now that it’s over I’m left with a pair of fabulous yellow pumps that I’ve got no idea how to style. Thankfully, Pinterest has tons of amazing bloggers who have shared how they style their own yellow pumps and I was able to piece together a look copycat-like.

This look from Glam Radar was right up my alley. Heels scare me a little, I have to admit. Because I don’t want to look overly dressed and stand out. My height makes me self-conscious in public and add heels to my already 5’9″ body and I easily reach 6 feet. So when I wear pumps, I like to keep it a conservative height and casual so I don’t feel overly stand out-ish. The chambray dress feels casual to me and paired with the yellow pumps, was a fun take on it.

yellow pumps2

For my copycat version, I shopped at ASOS for this chambray dress and found it for less than $50, including shipping. I grabbed a chunky turquoise necklace out of my own collection and a neutral over the shoulder bag. The fun yellow pumps shine in this outfit without being dressy. I felt comfortable in this look and would wear it anywhere, really. But let’s be honest here, I’d mostly love to wear it to a child free mimosa brunch.

February Empties

february empties11

Empties is a monthly feature here at Our Holly Days where I share products (mostly beauty with some others mixed in!) that I’ve been totally obsessed with throughout the month. In most cases, I’ve used the product completely, leaving me with empty containers that I lovingly refer to as Empties. My February Empties feature everything from eyeshadow to an accessory! Hopefully these inspire you try try something new!

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar

february empties2

february empties1

My husband gifted me this Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar palette for Valentine’s Day, which is my favorite kind of Valentine gift! And as always, Too Faced nails it with this eyeshadow palette. It smells so yummy and applies smoothly. My last palette, the Natural Eyes, was my Valentine’s Day gift last year and it’s the only shadow I used most of the year. It was also featured in one of my previous monthly empties posts.

Yes to Cucumbers Moisturizer

february empties3

february empties4

My beloved Burt’s Bees was nowhere to be found at my local Target or Ulta, so I had to purchase something else when I ran out of it. I tried the Jergen’s Tinted Moisturizer and it was so awful I tossed it. My hands turned orange, my skin actually dried out, and it was just awful. But the Say Yes products were all displayed next to the Burt’s Bees and all seem to have the same natural ingredients, so I thought I’ve give them a try. I purchased the Yes to Cucumbers Moisturizer and love it. In fact, I’ll have a hard time deciding whether to go back to Burt’s Bees or continue to use this Yes to Cucumbers. It cools and calms my skin and feels soft under my makeup. It’s just awesome stuff.

Fieldcrest Zebrawood & Maple Watch by JORD

february empties5

february empties6

Technically not a beauty product, but I’m obsessed with my Fieldcrest watch. It’s beautiful, goes with everything, and I’ve been wearing it non-stop lately. I love that it can be dressed up (I wore it to the Fuller House premiere) or worn with a casual pair of jeans effortlessly. It’s also an affordable price point coming in under $130. Plus, I’ve got $25 gift cards to give you guys when you sign up here. I’ve got a really limited supply, but they’re free and they’re all for you if you love these wood watches as much as I do. Get your $25 Jord gift card!

Herbal Essence Dry Shampoo

february empties7

february empties8

I know I’ve shared about this product before, but I’m just completely smitten with this dry shampoo by Herbal Essence. I’ve tried just about every dry shampoo on the market. From mousse versions to powders. This stuff is the best by far and gets the grease out without weighing my hair down.

Bath & Body Works Beach Perfume

february empties9

february empties10

Current favorite scent to put on my body is this Beach Breeze spray from Bath & Body Works. I’m feeling ready for warmer days, longer hours, and the smell of sunblock and beach wind. This scent has a light coconut smell and tropical floral overtone. It’s uplifting and getting me through these final weeks of winter blues. Bring on the summer breezes and margaritas!
