Skinnygirl Popcorn Trail Mix Recipe, Easy Snacking

With a season full of candy & tempting treats around the corner, I’ve been looking for a better for you snacking option or recipe that I can easily make to help me make a more conscious choice when my house is full of all that candy coated, diet-killing morsels of temptation. Realistically, I know that I won’t stay away if I don’t allow myself a little wiggle room; so I came up with this easy to make trail mix featuring Skinnygirl popcorn & chocolate candies so that I have something to turn to when the bags of Halloween candy start calling my name.

I’m one of those sweet & then salty snackers; popcorn is my salty snack of choice, & as for my sweet tooth? Well, we prefer chocolate. Who doesn’t, right?! But popcorn can get pretty scary when you consider all of the ingredients & calories that you consume when you eat it. Which is why when I learned about Skinnygirl popcorn, I was super stoked. With fewer calories (only 25 per cup popped!), no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no artificial sweeteners, & no high fructose corn syrup, this popcorn is a snack that lets me live a little. #SkinnygirlSnacks

Ingredients: Skinnygirl popcorn in Lime & Salt flavor, chocolate candies, raisins, peanuts, cashews, & almonds.

I was able to grab all of my ingredients at my local Walmart. It’s so convenient to be able to just grab everything I need in one place, be in & out, & home in no time.

Directions: Pop your Skinnygirl popcorn. In a large plastic baggie, add all ingredients & shake around gently to combine. Enjoy!

It honestly could not be easier. Or tastier! Even my kids get in on my Skinnygirl snack action. This Lime & Salt flavor is awesome just on it’s own as well as included in this recipe. It adds a fun zesty flavor to a classic snack, but without any added calories. It’s perfect for movie night with the family or a night in with the girls. I love that Skinnygirl is so versatile & fun all on it’s own or added into a recipe like this trail mix (that my kids are currently munching away on as they watch Sofia the First. Ha!

How would you enjoy Skinnygirl popcorn? A night in with girlfriends or maybe movie night with the family? I’d love to hear your popcorn ideas in the comments below.

Perfect Mom Snacks for Back to School Season

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

Last week, I spoke a little about Aiden starting preschool. This week, I was informed that Collin will be attending as well. If anyone needs me, I’ll be cry rocking in the corner. Both of our little dudes are starting school & while I’m thrilled for them, this is an entirely new chapter in our lives. From now until they move out, they will be in school & it is surreal to me to realize that this toddlerhood part is over.
With back to school in full, 200% swing, things are a bit hectic around here. I’ve been running all of the kids to & from doctor appointments for physicals, picking up supplies, buying back to school clothes, & more. As Moms, we tend to focus all of our energy towards our kids & their needs, which is why I thought this opportunity to work with Skinny Cow would be a perfect way to remind myself (& my fellow Moms) to take time for ourselves each day. #FoodMadeSimple
Skinny Cow Ice Cream Candy Bars & Skinny Cow Clusters are easy & offer a simple way to escape for just a few moments. Sometimes a gal just needs a moment with her chocolate, am I right? These little bites of permissible indulgence will definitely be in my freezer because how else am I supposed to survive both of my boys going to preschool? A few sobbing-feeling-sorry-for-myself laps around the school & home to indulge in my Skinny Cow Ice Cream Candy Bars is a simple cure for any Mama’s broken heart.
You can find these products along with other Skinny Cow indulgences at your local Walmart in ice cream section. You’ll be there for supplies, so why not grab some, “Mom supplies.” You can also find additional recipes from Nestle here.
How will you take time for yourself this back to school season? I’d love to hear your thoughts on Mommy time in the comments below.

Chocolate & Fruit Pairings Easy Snack Mix

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

I love chocolate. We are friends, chocolate & I. We go way back. That’s why when I was given the opportunity to create a recipe featuring Dove ® Fruits – Whole Cranberries in all their real fruit, chocolate covered goodness, I was more than happy to oblige. This chocolate & fruit pairing is pure perfection & I knew it would be a great addition to an easy, no-cook snack mix recipe. #LoveDoveFruits
I feel guilty even calling this a recipe, it’s that easy. I mean, you can really add in whatever you prefer. I just love dried pineapple in a snack mix, so this recipe uses it along with almonds, but you could use dried apricots, bananas, apples, whatever your heart desires.
one package of lightly salted almonds (or any nut you like)
one package of dried pineapple (or any fruit you like)
two cups of Dove ® Fruits – Whole Cranberries (or the Whole Cherry version that will be released later this year)
one cup yogurt chips (not pictured)
This has got to be the easiest recipe I have ever created. In a large bowl, toss all of your ingredients. Give them a good stir to mix everything up to ensure handfuls that hold a bit of each flavorful item.

This easy snack mix is perfect for back to school lunches or as a snack for Mom. It’s easily placed into little individual sized baggies or those cupcake holders that come in bento box lunches. Added bonus: it’s virtually mess free!

You can purchase Dove ® Fruits – Whole Cranberries in limited availability only at Sam’s Club where they will also have the Whole Cherries I mentioned above. Oh my, I cannot wait to try those out! These real fruit, dark chocolate covered cranberries are delicious & a better for you snack that you feel a little less guilty about devouring.
This easy no-cook snack mix is wonderful. Look! Even Evelyn approves in all her curls gone wild glory!

What kinds of fruits do you like in your snack mix? Do you have a special ingredient you’d like to share with me? I’d love to hear more in the comments below!

Fun with After School Snacks

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

While I have been home schooling the boys, this year Aiden is starting preschool. To help him wind down when he comes home & to help him & Collin to reconnect after a long day of separate schedules, I’ve been brainstorming some yummy, easy, & kid friendly after school snacks. #AfterSchoolSnacks

I remember growing up with Bagel Bites being such a huge treat after school & thought the boys would love them as much as I did. Maybe they won’t enjoy my rad headwear, oversized teddy bear sweatshirt, or neon poof sleeves as much as I did, but I’d be willing to bet they’ll enjoy Bagel Bites just as much as I did.

To gear up for our back to school supplies, teacher gifts, & after school snacks, Walmart is our one stop shop. It’s super convenient to get everything done in one store. We easily found our Bagel Bites & another family favorite, Delimex chicken taquitos.

These snacks are ideal for after school since they store easily in the freezer & warm up quickly in the microwave in whatever serving sizes you require. Bagel Bites are made with real cheese & homemade sauce with 0g of trans fat. And Delimex chicken taquitos are made with all white meat. Plus, this Mom can get creative with how I plate the snacks to make them extra fun! For instance, a stick figure made from a mix of Bagel Bites & sliced pieces of Delimex taquitos! How much fun would these guys be to devour?

Collin named his stick figure friend Mr. Snacks & just loved it! Aiden thought the, “baby pizzas,” were, “So cute, Mom! Look at these baby pepperonis cut like ice cubes!” Ha! It was a super fun twist on our usual snack routine & even I had fun putting together Mr. Snacks & friends!

For $0.50 off your next Bagel Bites purchase (18 ct.), print out your coupon here. And for $1.00 off your next Delimex purchase (23 ct.), get your coupon here.

6 Chilled Pasta Salad Recipes for Summer

Come summer time here in the desert, I try to avoid using my oven as much as possible. It heats up the house a few degrees & creates a larger AC bill than I’d prefer. Keeping cool is the name of the game out here & I try to do that whenever possible. Including meals. Rather than warming up our oven for a hot meal after an already sweltering day, I prefer whipping up some cold pasta dishes to feed my family. This week, I’m sharing my go-to pasta salad recipe along with five others that I tracked down while browsing the internet for new twists on this chilled-out idea. Keep cool out there & head over to So Fawned for these summer recipes now!

9 Perfect Summer Watermelon Recipes

Watermelon is an ideal health food because it doesn’t contain any fat or cholesterol, is high in fiber and vitamins A & C and is a good source of potassium. Plus, watermelon is just the quintessential summer fruit & who doesn’t love indulging in it’s sweet & juicy fruit meat? With summer in full swing, I wanted to share some fabulous watermelon recipes that you maybe haven’t thought of yet such as a savory salad or appetizer! Enjoy this week’s round-up of watermelon recipes perfect for summer! As usual, head over to to get the full list in all it’s sweet glory!

6 Tips for Long Distance Baby & Toddler Car Travel (Lots of Snacks!)

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser. #EatMoreBites

With summer right around the corner, road trips are on the mind of many traveling families. My own family will be making a couple of road trips this year. Thankfully, we have had a ton of practice at this whole long distance drive thing & have pretty much mastered the art of traveling with a baby & two toddlers. I can tell you for certain that it involves a lot of snacks. Ha! Because of all this upcoming travel, I thought I’d share six of my top tips for long distance car travel with baby or toddler today with all of you.

1. Be sure everyone has their own cup/water bottle/drinking apparatus with ice in it. The ice will keep your kiddos refreshment nice & cool while also helping it to last for longer. Since you’ll be stuck in a car, you won’t really have access to be able to refill their cups on demand.

2. Pack loads of snacks. On car trips, we use a sort of anything goes philosophy. Snacks that aren’t on our typical schedule are open season on car trips. I love packing TWIX® Bites because they are unwrapped (no trash!) & easy to hand out to each kid. They are the perfect summer road trip snack & since we don’t eat them everyday, the kids love the extra treat. You can grab them at your local Walmart & stock up on other snacks your kids will enjoy too!

3. Be sure everyone who will keep a hat on has a hat on. The hats will help protect them from the sun’s glares. Even if your windows are tinted, that warm summer sun shines bright into little faces & makes it hard for them to relax. I keep hats for each of my boys in the car at all times for this reason. I also have them use sunglasses, but that’s still a battle most times. Ha!

4. Include a blanket & even a pillow for everyone. For us, a blanket from home is enough to send my kids into a nap coma for a few hours while we drive. Napping toddlers on road trips are like winning the lottery. The feeling is pretty much the same, I’m certain.

5. If your kiddos are potty training, pack extra clothes & a few towels. When we were potty training the boys, I tried to stay away from training pants as much as possible. I felt like they only encouraged them to continue going in their pants. Instead, I would line their car seats with towels & if they had an accident, I could easily take it off, change them & be back on the road in no time.

6. Going back to our anything goes philosophy, I allow unlimited tablet usage while on road trips or long drives. Typically, I’ll download a new game for them so that they have something new to keep them interested. We have loaded their tablets with educational apps & games & a couple silly little monster truck games. These are great for meltdowns or for helping them stay occupied & engaged during the long drive.

Cinco de Mayo is on Monday & here in SoCal, it’s kiiiind of a big deal! We will be celebrating here at home with tacos, chips & salsa, & a few lessons on Mexican culture with the boys. While neither of my dudes are of Mexican descent (Collin is Bolivian & Aiden is Puerto Rican), we still believe in celebrating other people & their culture, especially since we are surrounded by it in our area. In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, I thought I would share a round up of Mexican food recipes for you all to try this Cinco de Mayo.
