When I have guests stay at my house, I like for them to feel at home and maybe even a little pampered. With the holidays in full swing, guests are in and out more than ever and my hostess (and mom!) skills have been put to the test. I like to think I have a knack for making people feel welcomed and taken care of while they stay in my home and I’ve developed a few tricks of the trade that I’m sharing with you to inspire your next welcoming committee. These essentials for guests visiting over the holidays are small gestures to ensure your friends and family feel as comfortable as possible.

A small supply of toiletries

Every single time I travel, I forget something. Isn’t that just the way life goes? Whether it’s makeup wipes or my toothbrush, I’m always having to make do without or purchase something new. When I know I have guests coming by, I try to have a small basket with travel sized toiletry items inside like toothpaste, soap, makeup wipes, lotion, and anything else I happen upon at Walmart while shopping.

Access to extra toilet paper

Friends, there is nothing worse than being stuck on a toilet that’s not your own and then looking over to realize the toilet paper roll is empty. It’s all a guessing game as to where the toilet paper could be hiding and it also feels sort of like snooping when you do look around for a fresh roll. Before a guests stops in, I’ll add a few rolls on top of their bed next to the toiletries basket so that they know exactly where to find the much needed item. As a self-proclaimed toilet paper snob, I treat my guests with Cottonelle for that ultra cushiony, ultra luxurious, ultra clean, and fresh feeling.

Soft, strong, and absorbent, Kleenex are my best friend. I use them for makeup application, clean up, nose wiping, and the list goes on. Every guest should have a fresh box of Kleenex available. And of course holiday guests deserve special Kleenex® Holiday Ovals, right? My holiday freak flag has no boundaries. We’ve discussed this before.

A couple bottles of water and light snacks

My munchies bug tends to strike in the late evening so I like to give my guests a couple options in their welcome basket such as fruit, pretzels, and even some chocolate.

The WiFi password

Isn’t it hilarious when you visit someone’s home and they don’t even remember their password and then you play a guessing game for several minutes? Ha! Not really, though. I like to place the WiFi password in an envelope for my guests to easily access because no thank you to racking up those pesky mobile data charges. Mi WiFi es su WiFi, guests!

Fresh towels and loofahs

Similar to the toilet paper hunt, the towel hunt feels invasive. In addition to their welcome basket and toilet paper, I like to leave a couple of freshly washed towels and new loofahs on the bed for when guests arrive.

If you take a little extra time to have a small welcoming basket filled with these essentials, I believe your guests will feel relaxed and spoiled while they stay in your home. Thinking about your guests ahead of time ensures a seamless stay while they’re in your house.

For great deals from Walmart on guest and holiday essentials like Kleenex®, Cottonelle, Scott, and Viva, use the Ibotta app. You can get $1 off Cottonelle (12 count or larger), $1 off Scott (12 count or larger), $1 off Viva (6 count or larger), and when you buy two products you get an extra dollar back.
