I received my journaling Bible free of charge from Rustic Journals in exchange for sharing my experiences and thoughts on this blog. This post may also contain affiliate links.
For me, journaling and getting creative inside my Bible is an outlet for me and a way to connect with Jesus via my mad love for paper. I have no desire to keep my Bible perfect and clean. I want my Bible to reflect it’s wear and to be able to visually see my spiritual journey in the pages. Bible journaling isn’t for everyone, but it’s most definitely for me.
I am still new to illustrating faith inside my Bible, but I knew the first thing I wanted to do was to add tabs for each book. I couldn’t find anything other than plain tabs and found very few resources for DIY-ing them. Which just meant that I had to get creative. I created a tabs file, typed each book on the tabs, and printed them out on my favorite scrapbooking paper. When I shared my useful and lovely creation on Instagram and Facebook, I received several requests to email the file over. Happy to oblige, I made a plain template and sent them to whoever requested them. Today, I’ve decided to share the file with all of you.
To use these free printable Bible tabs, simply save the file and print it onto your paper of choice. If you prefer to dazzle things up a bit, choose a floral print similar to mine and it adds instant beauty to each book.
Next, you’ll trim each tab up with a paper cutter or just a pair of trusty scissors. If you have a tab punch, this process will go faster, if not, use a hole punch to give each tab an easy-to-grab edge.
Finally, you’ll adhere each tab to your Bible. There are several options for this: a plain glue stick (though that can get a bit messy), a glue pen, or a Xyron machine (my preferred method as these are rather inexpensive and make the process a cinch!).
Can we also mention how easy these tabs make it to flip to whichever book you want to connect with, too?! I have always used and loved having tabs inside my Bible, especially for easy reference during a sermon.
My Bible is from Rustic Journals, a little shop I found on Etsy that’s run by the sweetest woman named Sue. I reached out to Sue to see if she would be willing to bless a reader and myself each with one of her gorgeously crafted Bibles. Sue orders several journaling Bibles at a time and then meticulously covers each one with high quality leather in a variety of prints, colors, and textures. When I saw a floral printed leather, I knew I wanted one (most of you friends know how I feel about florals, ha!). Sue graciously agreed and we became fast friends through the process of my choosing a leather and her creating my Bible.
I am able to connect deeply with God’s Word through Bible journaling and with help form Sue, I am able to share this gift with one of you. It is my hope that whomever receives this Bible can enjoy it as much as I do and use it to receive God and mediate on each verse in a new way.
I am also hoping to help Sue grow her customer base and gain new following as she works so diligently on each Bible with love and joy in her heart to spread the good news doing something she loves. Sue also uses her shop as an outlet to help support a missionary she met through creating these handcrafted covers. She is an incredible woman with a huge heart and a deep love for spreading the Word.
