MSW #33, First Day of School

August 20, 2014Holly Sosa

Welcome to Mini Style Wednesday, a weekly link up where child fashion takes center stage. Styling & helping my kids discover their fashion identity as they grow is one of my favorite parts about being a mother. Myself & Chelsea, from Chelsea Beeswax, co-host this weekly event where you can link up your kid fashion photos from Instagram or from your blog. Our goal is to inspire other parents & their kids to help express themselves through fashion & explore their personal style. Follow along with us each week & share your kid or baby style posts & Instagram photos.

Collin & Aiden both had their very first day of school on Monday. They are participating in a preschool program here in California called First Five. They are in the same class together, which I think will make this transition easier for both of them. I didn’t get any first day photos of Aiden because he’s been at his Mama’s house for the past week. I’ll get some of him later this week when he’s visiting us, though. For now, I’m just sharing Collin’s first day photos.
Seeing my first child off to his first day of school is a huge deal for me & it’s just confirmation that my little dude is growing up. There is nothing I can do to slow it down or stop it. These babes we have been given the honor of raising… well, they aren’t ours forever. And an event like starting school just gives your gut a reality check.

The morning of his first day, Collin woke up & came into my bedroom, “Mom! It’s my school day! Let’s get ready!” My heart was heavy & light all at the same time. I’m so proud of both Collin & Aiden, but also a little sad to know that this chapter of our lives is closing while a new one begins.
