I have been asked quite a few times about my makeup routine, what I use, & if I’d post a tutorial. And even though I am in the most desperate need of a good eyebrow threading, I am posting because I just love you guys that much.
As a Mom, I don’t have a lot of time to devote to doing my makeup every day. Therefore, it’s simple, quick, & easy & I can completely put on my face in 7-10 minutes. I use drug store products because I cannot justify spending loads of money on makeup & I need easy access for when I run out. Simplicity is my motto.
1) Revlon brown palette, for my eyes 2) Physicians Formula Bronze Booster, because I am pale & like to look a little sunkissed 3) CoverGirl brown eye palette, I use this for my eyebrows 4) Revlon Naughty Nude blush 5) Revlon Color Stay foundation, for all over to cover blemishes & red areas 6) L’Oreal Voluminous mascara in black, my favorite ever & I’ve tried several mascaras 7) CoverGirl pencil eyeliner in blackest black
1) I start with a freshly washed & moisturized face. I haven’t used real face lotion in years. Baby lotion works just as great. 2) I use my foundation all over my face & rub in evenly with my fingers. Technically, this is a no-no hygiene-wise, but it’s what works for me. I brush on my bronzer all over & my blush on my cheekbones. I fill in my brows with a little eyeshadow. I feel like everyone needs to learn this. Even if you think you don’t, trust me, you should fill in your brows. The lighter your hair is, the more important this is. Next, I use my eyeshadow: the lightest color all over my lid all the way up to my eyebrows, the next shade darker just over my lid, & the next darkest in the crease of my lids & then smudge with a cotton ball or my pinky finger. 3) I line my upper lids with my pencil. This liner has worked the best for me over the years. It goes on evenly & stays all day long. I just line along my lashes. It’s literally that simple. 4) I also like to line the bottoms of my eyes & to do this, I actually put it inside the lid. Gently pull your lower lid down & just line it. I like the shape definition this gives my eyes. It makes them stand out. 5) I add two coats of mascara & I’m finished.
I don’t use anything on my lips other than a smear of chapstick. Occasionally, I like to spice it up with a fun bright red lip (I’ll share how I do that in a future Mama Wears post). Day to day wear, though, is just simple & focused on my eyes.
Good brushes are also helpful, but can get pricey. I purchased mine at Target on clearance for $10. Keep your eyes peeled when you go down the makeup aisle & you’ll often score great brushes for a reasonable price. Storage hack: buy candle or votive holders for your brushes. They’re a gorgeous way to store your brushes & also add a nice touch to your vanity or bathroom counter.
