Since the girls live with their Mom full time while they are in school & we live three hours away, we don’t get to see them as often as we would like. We miss out on some of the smaller holidays that come round during a school week. I try to mail out packages to them on holidays when we won’t see them. Just as a way to let them know we are thinking about them & miss them.
When I saw this fun idea to mail some sprinkles & cupcake liners from The Crafting Chicks, I knew (with some tweaks) it would be a great way to send our love to them this Valentine’s Day. Their version was more of a party in a box, mine is just sweet little gifts that are Valentine themed.
Pear Tree Greetings is offering this darling little banner printable & I knew I wanted to send one to the girls to hang in their room. The printable includes the love banner & some extra pennants as well as cut outs that can be used for toppers for cupcakes or dangles for your ceiling. I totally envision a little Valentine tea party with this hanging in the background as we feast on tea cookies & juice. Go get yours now!

I bought some plastic Rubbermaid Take Alongs because the red lids are super festive & such a fun way to send a little Valentine love in. I also have a vast collection of sprinkles for just about every occasion. I loved that The Crafting Chicks shared hers by placing them in smaller containers for her nieces & nephews. Genius. I found a package of three circle containers in Target’s dollar spot. This is also where my sprinkles are from. I picked up some washi tape to seal the edges of the small containers for shipping. What a bummer if they ended up leaking out.

I filled the Take Alongs with the sprinkles, some cupcake liners, & various items I found in the dollar store or at the dollar spot in Target. I also found some fun erasers & pencils in the holiday section that fit perfectly inside the containers. I topped everything off with the banner I made using the free printable from Pear Tree.

Thanks to Erin Condren, when I ordered my address book & life planner, they included some extra goodies like these large & lovely mailing labels; so I used them to address my packages of love to each girl individually. To ensure everything stays put & inside during transit in the mail, I used packaging tape around the edges of the container & along the top.

I can’t wait for the girls to get their Valentine happy mail. I know they will feel so special & excited to receive a package in the mail. This idea could easily be adapted for nieces & nephews or grandchildren or even for an adult who needs a little Valentine pick me up!
