The Receiving End of a RAK

I have met tons of new people through blogging.  I have created some amazing relationships, as well.  And I have met some incredible people that I am so thankful blogging lead me to.

In 2013, I pledged to complete one random act of kindness per month.  Twelve acts for the year.  I never even had the chance to complete January’s before I, myself, was on the receiving end of a random act of kindness.

Recently, I was working on a blog post about some of my Etsy wishlist items for Evelyn.  I stumbled upon this gorgeous Matryoshka doll mobile, but didn’t even include it in my post because of the price tag.  I still wanted to share how beautiful it was & see if anyone had tips on working with felt so that I could possibly attempt to make one myself.  Just look at it.  It’s completely adorable in every way.

Shortly after posting the link to the listing on Etsy, I noticed the mobile had been purchased.  Naturally, I thought it could possibly have something to do with me promoting the link.  I was happy I could help promote a handmade business, but also a little wistful that any possibility of my getting this mobile was gone.
Until I received a message in my FB inbox from a blogger friend, Veronika from Veronika’s Kandy Koated Dreams, “DONE. You ask & you shall receive!  Happy New Mama, Honey!

Love & Hugs to you! XO.”

Um, WUT?!  This completely unnecessary to life, totally frivolous item that Evelyn probably will never miss?  Do I need a mobile? No.  Does Evelyn?  No.  Did I want it?  Yes.  I just adore the little dolls & colors.  It’s pleasing for me & makes me happy to see it.

This gift is 100% complete kindess from Veronika’s heart.  Just because she wanted me to smile.  To be happy.  Even if it is because of an overpriced mobile.  To her, she wanted to give someone something just for being themselves.  Naturally, my hormones instantly sent me into a sobbing spiral of snot.

I’ve never met Veronika in real life.  We talk & comment back & forth on our blogs.  She is always posting inspirational quotes that remind me to stay positive & be thankful for all I have, even if it’s little, I have a lot of love in my life.

It felt really good to be on the receiving end of a RAK.  And it just further inspired me to complete my resolution of 12 random acts of kindness.

You really should follow Veronika’s blog.  She is always doing RAKs.  She is always holding a giveaway on her blog.  And not sponsored giveaways either, but giveaways that SHE purchases items for & genuinely just wants to give to her readers.  Seriously, check her out.
